Last Tuesday, October 13th, we had the immense pleasure of kicking off this new reading year by welcoming Flora Hogman to the garden for a warm gathering that brought together around thirty participants.
Flora shared her life story as recounted in her book Le Récit d’Erica, enfant cachée dans la France occupée (Erica’s Story: A Hidden Child in Occupied France). The discussions were rich and particularly touching, and attendees were able to ask her numerous questions. Participants were especially struck by the extraordinary resilience of the young girl she once was, the poetic quality of her narrative, and the ongoing relevance and impact of her testimony today.
The evening continued in a warm and convivial atmosphere around a shared buffet. To top off the moment, we had a wonderful surprise in store for Flora: a cake to celebrate her birthday, which had been the day before!
A huge thank you to Flora Hogman for her generosity and inspiring presence, as well as to everyone who came to share this beautiful and important moment in the garden.
Le mardi 13 octobre dernier, nous avons eu l’immense plaisir de lancer cette nouvelle année de lecture en accueillant Flora Hogman dans le jardin, à l’occasion d’une rencontre chaleureuse qui a réuni une trentaine de participants.
Flora a rappelé son parcours rapporté dans son ouvrage Le Récit d’Erica, enfant cachée dans la France occupée. Les échanges ont été riches et particulièrement touchants. On a pu lui poser de nombreuses questions. Les participants ont notamment été marqués par l’extraordinaire résilience de la fillette qu’elle était, la qualité poétique de son récit, ainsi que par la portée et la pertinence toujours de son témoignage aujourd’hui.
La soirée s’est prolongée en toute convivialité autour d’un buffet partagé. Pour couronner ce moment, nous avons réservé une belle surprise à Flora : un gâteau pour célébrer son anniversaire survenu la veille !
Un grand merci à Flora Hogman pour sa générosité et sa présence inspirante, ainsi qu’à toutes celles et ceux qui sont venus partager ce beau et important moment dans le jardin.
