To open our new year of reading, the book club will have the great honor of welcoming Flora Hogman on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at 7 p.m. for a special in-person gathering.
Together, we will discuss her memoir, Le Récit d’Erica, enfant cachée dans la France occupée (Erica’s Story: A Hidden Child in Occupied France), a deeply moving book recounting a remarkable life journey.
A Jewish child during the Second World War, Flora Hogman spent part of her childhood hidden in southern France, where she was raised by a foster family. As an adult, she moved to New York and became a clinical psychologist in Manhattan.
An experienced storyteller, she shares her testimony through the organization Facing History and Ourselves and is an active participant in The Moth, a New York organization dedicated to the art of storytelling.
Whether you read the book over the summer or would simply like to hear this rare and inspiring testimony, you are warmly invited to join us.

Pour inaugurer cette nouvelle année de lecture, le club de lecture aura l’immense honneur d’accueillir Flora Hogman le mardi 13 octobre 2026 à 19 h, à l’occasion d’une rencontre exceptionnelle en personne.
Nous échangerons autour de son témoignage, Le Récit d’Erica, enfant cachée dans la France occupée, un ouvrage bouleversant retraçant un parcours de vie remarquable.
Enfant juive pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale, Flora Hogman passe une partie de son enfance cachée dans le sud de la France, où elle est élevée par une famille d’accueil. Devenue adulte, elle s’installe à New York et exerce comme psychologue clinicienne à Manhattan.
Habituée à transmettre son histoire, elle intervient auprès de l’organisation Facing History and Ourselves et participe activement à The Moth, une organisation new-yorkaise consacrée à l’art du récit.
