Nigel has been the Rector of Saint Esprit since 1994. He was born in Staffordshire, England, and spent part of his childhood on the island of Cyprus. After studying Ancient History and Archeology specializing in Egyptian Hieroglyphics at Birmingham University, he read theology at Oxford University and was ordained to a parish in Birmingham. During that time he also took a degree in Islamic Studies. Before coming to Saint Esprit, he worked for the Church of England’s Board of Mission and Unity, researching relations between Christians and Muslims in France, and was Advisor to the Bishop of London on Interfaith Relations. He is the Chaplain of the Huguenot Society of America, and a spiritual director at the General Theological Seminary. He is married to his partner of over two decades.
Nigel est recteur de Saint-Esprit depuis 1994. Il est né dans le Staffordshire, en Angleterre, et a passé une partie de son enfance à Chypre. Après avoir étudié l’histoire ancienne et l’archéologie, avec une spécialisation en hiéroglyphes égyptiens, à l’université de Birmingham, il a suivi des études de théologie à l’université d’Oxford et a été ordonné prêtre dans une paroisse de Birmingham. À cette époque, il a également obtenu un diplôme en études islamiques. Avant de rejoindre Saint-Esprit, il a travaillé pour le Conseil de la mission et de l’unité de l’Église d’Angleterre, où il a mené des recherches sur les relations entre chrétiens et musulmans en France, et a été conseiller de l’évêque de Londres pour les relations interconfessionnelles. Il est aumônier de la Huguenot Society of America et directeur spirituel au General Theological Seminary. Il est marié à sa compagne depuis plus de vingt ans.
