This past Sunday, we gathered with joy to celebrate Pentecost, the feast of the Holy Spirit and, because Saint-Esprit means “Holy Spirit”, the “name day” of our church.

We give heartfelt thanks to all who helped make this beautiful celebration possible: our volunteers who prepared and served the food during the reception, the dedicated staff of Saint-Esprit, our lay leaders and readers, and everyone who joined us both in person and online for worship and fellowship.

In his sermon, the Rev. Nigel Massey reflected on the mystery and closeness of the Holy Spirit:

“. . . the Spirit is anonymous, enigmatic and elusive. It can’t be controlled or classified, and is constantly breaking though historical, cultural, or personal barriers that we humans love to set up for ourselves”

He reminded us that Pentecost is not only a remembrance of the past, but an invitation to allow the Spirit to turn “then” into “now” in the life of the Church today.

Although the rain led us to move the reception indoors to the parish hall, the warmth of the community easily filled the space. It was a joyful afternoon of conversation, laughter, and shared celebration.

We are grateful for everyone who helped make this Pentecost celebration such a meaningful witness to the life of our parish community and we invite you to enjoy some picture highlights below:
