Bible Study

A deeper comprehension of the bible

Every Wednesday evening at 6:00, a group of between eight and twenty of us meet in the sanctuary at 109 East 60th Street to discuss the following Sunday's Bible readings ( .  We first read them in French.  Our discussions and explanations of the text are mostly in English, but French is sometimes spoken too, depending on attendance.  Our discussions range from the language of the original texts, their historical context, the way that Christians (and others) have read the texts in the past, and how they apply to our own lives.  We also consider wider questions about God, the world and the human condition; discussions which often help the rector to prepare the following Sunday's sermon.  No question is too obvious, and every contribution is valued.  We are an informal and friendly group, and everyone is welcome!
