molière, marivaux and more!
"Les Joueurs" is a group of actors and theater enthusiasts who usually meet weekly, September through June, to read, practice and perform French plays in their original form and sometimes in English translation. Several times a year, we offer to parishioners and other members of the public, performances of plays, poetry and song for the benefit of the church or other charitable causes. Staged readings and fully produced performances have included works by Feydeau, Marivaux, Ionesco, Becket, Genet, Sartre, and Francophone writers from Haiti and Africa. Past performances have been held at Saint Esprit and at the National Arts Club in Gramercy Park.
During our lively meetings (often with wine and cheese), your participation will enable you to practice your French speaking skills and engage in a community of artists who strive for professional excellence. Involvement does presume an intermediate to advanced knowledge of the French language.
